Georgia Residence Permit: We Handle Your Application End to End

A Georgian residence permit lets you live in the country long-term, open the door to renewal and, over time, to permanent residence. Getting there means picking the correct permit type, assembling a clean document set and filing correctly with the Public Service Development Agency (PSDA). We do that work for you. Our team assesses your situation, recommends the permit that fits, prepares and translates the paperwork, and manages the filing and follow-up so a missing document or wrong category does not cost you months. Note: a residence permit is an immigration status (your legal right to reside). It is separate from tax residency, which follows its own 183-day and status rules, ask us if you need both.

What we do

  • Assess your case and recommend the right permit type: work/labour residence, short-term residence via real estate ownership, investor residence, study, or family reunification.
  • Prepare and check the full document package, including certified translations and notarisation, so your file meets PSDA requirements the first time.
  • Check whether you need a labour permit at all, the April 2026 amendment took several groups back out of the requirement, including foreigners serving only non-resident clients and directors of larger companies. An individual entrepreneur selling to Georgian clients, or the director of a small company, can still be covered. Where the permit applies, we obtain it for you before filing the residence application.
  • File your application with the PSDA, choose the processing speed that fits your timeline, and track the case to decision.
  • Arrange your residence card collection and advise on the renewal timeline so your status stays valid.
  • Coordinate related needs on request (company formation, a business bank account, or tax-status setup) through one point of contact.

How it works

  1. Free consultation: we review your goals, background and the permit types you qualify for, then agree on the route.

  2. Document preparation: we build your file (proof of grounds, translations, notarisation), and flag anything that needs sourcing.

  3. Work authorisation (only where required): we first establish whether the labour permit applies to you after the April 2026 exemptions, then obtain it and file your residence application on that basis.

  4. Filing with the PSDA: we submit your application, select the processing tier and manage every request from the agency.

  5. Decision and card: on approval we arrange your residence card and set a reminder for your renewal window.

Facts worth knowing before you decide

The ground decides everything

Type, documents, duration and renewal all follow from why you qualify. Getting the ground right at the start is what avoids a refusal later.

A permit is not tax residency

Living here legally and being taxed here are two separate statuses with separate applications. Many people need both, a year apart.

Refusals happen on paperwork

Most rejections come from a missing translation, an expired document or a ground that is not evidenced. That is the part we take over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which residence permit type is right for me?

It depends on your grounds for staying. Common routes are work/labour residence, short-term residence through real estate ownership, investor residence, study and family reunification. In your free consultation we assess your situation and recommend the permit with the best chance of approval for your case.

Is a residence permit the same as tax residency?

No. A residence permit is your legal right to live in Georgia, issued by the PSDA. Tax residency is a separate status based mainly on the 183-day rule or high-net-worth status and determines where you are taxed. You can hold one without the other. We can help you arrange both if needed.

How much property do I need for a real-estate residence permit?

As of 1 March 2026 the reported minimum property value for the short-term residence permit rose to USD 150,000 (up from USD 100,000). Thresholds and rules change, so we confirm the current figure and your eligibility against the PSDA before you file. Please verify the amount at consultation.

Do I still need a work permit after the 2026 changes?

It depends on who your clients are and how your business is structured. The April 2026 amendment took several groups back out of the requirement, including foreigners providing services to non-resident clients. Directors of smaller companies and anyone selling into the Georgian market can still need one. We check your position before you file, so you do not apply for a permit you do not need.
