Georgian Tax Residency: Certificate Application Service
Georgian tax residency is proven by a certificate issued for one specific tax year, and there are two routes to it: 183 days of presence in any continuous 12-month period, or High Net Worth Individual status, which has no minimum stay but sets asset and income thresholds plus a Georgian connection. Our tax residency guide explains how each route works and where the thresholds sit. This page is about the work itself: we assess which route your case can actually document, assemble the evidence in the form the Revenue Service accepts, file the application, and handle the annual renewal. The application goes to the Revenue Service and the decision is taken by the Minister of Finance. Requirements and thresholds reflect July 2026 and are confirmed for your case before you order, because the evidence expected in practice goes beyond the headline numbers.

What we do
- Route assessment — we check your day count against your travel record, test your assets and income against the High Net Worth thresholds, and recommend the route with the better chance of approval.
- Document audit — we list exactly which valuations, income statements, bank confirmations and translations will be expected, and flag early what will not hold up.
- Evidence pack — we collect and prepare the file, including notarised translations and apostilled foreign documents where these are required.
- Filing and follow-up — we submit to the Revenue Service, answer the reviewer's questions, and follow the file through to the Minister of Finance's decision.
- The Georgian connection — where the High Net Worth route needs Georgian-source income or a residence permit, we arrange the missing element through our residence permit and company services.
- Renewal and coordination — the certificate covers one tax year, so we track the renewal date, refile with updated evidence, and work alongside your adviser at home on how the certificate is used there.
How it works
Intake: you send your travel history and an overview of income and assets; we confirm which route applies and what is missing.
Plan: you receive a written route recommendation with the document list, a realistic timeline and the open risks.
Collection: we gather and prepare the evidence, including translations, notarisation and apostilles where needed.
Filing: we submit the application and handle the correspondence until the certificate is issued.
Aftercare: we keep the file for next year's renewal and refile in good time.
Facts worth knowing before you decide
The Minister of Finance decides
The application goes to the Revenue Service, which reviews it and passes it on. That is why a thin evidence file costs weeks rather than days.
The certificate does not release your home country
It proves Georgian residency for treaty purposes. Whether your previous country lets go depends on its exit rules and the treaty's tie-breakers.
Practice asks for more than the thresholds
The published numbers are the floor. What the file actually has to show — valuations, statements, the Georgian connection — is confirmed case by case.
This page describes our service and gives general information — it is not tax or legal advice. Tax rates, thresholds, eligibility conditions and competent authorities can change, and the rules of your country of residence apply alongside the Georgian ones. We confirm the current position for your case, in writing, before you order. · Last reviewed 07/2026
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need from me, and what do you do yourselves?
From you: passport and travel record, an overview of income and assets with the supporting statements, and — for the High Net Worth route — the valuations or income confirmations for the relevant years. We do the rest: route assessment, document list, translations and apostilles, the application itself, the correspondence with the Revenue Service, and the follow-up until the decision. You sign; we file.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
Once a complete file is submitted, a decision normally follows within a few weeks. Most of the elapsed time in practice goes into collecting, translating and legalising documents, which is the part we take over. Our fee is fixed and quoted after the intake call, once we know which route applies and how much document work your case needs; government and translation costs are passed through at cost.
What happens if the application is refused?
We tell you the likely outcome before filing rather than after, because a weak evidence file is visible in advance — if your case does not carry, we say so at the intake stage. Where a refusal comes down to a missing document or an unclear valuation, the file can be strengthened and resubmitted. Where the underlying thresholds are simply not met, the honest answer is to build the missing element first, for example Georgian-source income or a residence permit.
Do you handle the yearly renewal?
Yes. The certificate is issued per tax year, not indefinitely, so it has to be applied for again with current evidence. We keep your file, track the date and refile in good time, and flag it when a change in your circumstances — days spent in Georgia, assets, a move — affects the route you used last year. Our accounting team keeps your company filings consistent with your personal residency.
